Congratulations to the Chinese man who recently won a 'Lying Flat' contest after spending 33 hours laying on a mattress. I could spend all day in bed but this takes it to another level!

Sometimes you feel like you never want to leave your bed and you could spend all day in it but you eventually get up. Maybe you have plans, have to go to work, or need to eat or use the bathroom. As great as it sounds to stay in bed all day it's nearly impossible. Or so I thought. This Chinese man recently lied in bed for 33 hours and won a 'Lying Flat' contest by doing so. Think about how long that is and how boring it would be!

According to Oddity Central, 240 people gathered in Baotou City, China to participate in the 'Lying Flat' competition. Oddity Central points out that 'lying flat' is a popular internet slang term in China that describes a lifestyle of giving up on the rat race and just chilling. It sounds like what we'd call "bed rot" and stuff here.

The rules for the contest? You have to lay flat on a mattress and can't get up--not even to use the bathroom. You can roll around, read, eat, and be on your phone--you just can't get up. Finally, after 33 hours and 35 minutes a champion was crowned. For his efforts, the Chinese man won roughly $420. Not bad, but I'd probably want a little more after staying up for 33 hours!

That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
