TD Garden's development has been a monumental event in the shaping of modern-day Boston. It transformed Causeway Street from a dark, gritty corridor into a thriving mixed-use district with restaurants, housing, entertainment venues, a major grocery store, and a movie theater.
The Boston Bruins' CEO, Charlie Jacobs, who also serves as co-CEO of Delaware North, TD Garden's parent company, frames TD Garden as more than a venue. It's a symbol of family legacy and civic pride in Boston.
"It's a half-century of stewardship," he said in a statement shared with NewsCenter 5 Boston. "I'm incredibly proud of what we deliver to the people of Boston and New England."
Speaking further with NewsCenter 5, he recalled Causeway Street's bygone era with the elevated T line and darker surroundings, noting how the district has since been revitalized into a vibrant, modern neighborhood.
According to its website, Delaware North is a worldwide hospitality and food services leader, employing more than 55,000 associates who serve half a billion people each year. The company's assets include several world-renowned resorts and Boston's TD Garden, widely regarded as one of the top three sports and entertainment venues in the country.
