Since its May launch, the Fenway Greens City Connect uniform has become the top-selling design in MLB history for the Boston Red Sox.
Fenway Greens debuted as a Friday-night look this year. According to a Boston Herald report, the team has a 6-5 record in games it wore the jerseys. All six of the wins came in walk-off fashion, including a Sept. 26 victory that helped the team secure a playoff berth.
Troup Parkinson, the Red Sox's chief marketing and partnerships officer, said the greens are already the highest-selling City Connect design in MLB history. In fact, the appeal has been so great that the greens are outselling others that have been on the market for as many as four years, including the club's previous Boston Marathon yellows.
“It was amazing hearing the fan reaction because that's when you know you've hit on something that people like as much as you do,” Parkinson said in a statement shared with the Boston Herald. “We all internally loved it, but it's hard to be our own focus group.”
Parkinson noted that the Red Sox do not expect to overhaul their uniform lineup in the near term and do not anticipate major marketing initiatives this offseason after a busy year.
“You'll see the same rollout of uniforms for us,” Parkinson confirmed. "We've got the red alternate; you've got the home whites. You've got the grays; you've got the Boston-specific Patriots Day one-off jersey we wear. You have the yellows, and you have the greens.”
Parkinson said the yellows will return in 2026, as the Red Sox have no plans to get rid of the yellows anytime soon.
In addition to the new City Connect uniform, this past year saw several other significant marketing initiatives for the Red Sox, including Netflix documentaries.
