An Ace Hardware thief's "noticeable bulge" turned out to be a stolen power tool. It wasn't what it looked like, unfortunately for him.

People try all sorts of ways to shoplift and steal from stores. Some are more clever than others. Some actually end up working when others do not and only lead to you being arrested. This is one of those cases. It happened at an Ace Hardware store in Evansville, Indiana. Law enforcement was called to the Ace Hardware on Pollack Avenue where Joseph Courbat was found concealing power tools down the front of his pants, per 14 News. Maybe he thought he could just pass it off as his bulge? That didn't end up happening. You can see his mugshot provided by the Vanderburgh County Jail below.

Courbat tried to claim he was walking back to pay for it but later admitted he intended to steal it. He was arrested and charged with Organized Retail Theft, All Other Larceny, Failure to Appear, and Other Agencies Charges, per 14 News.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
