A New York groom didn't have the wedding of his dreams. He ended up having to go to the hospital at his own wedding!

There are many ways a wedding can go bad. Maybe an ex shows up, maybe the caterer is late, or a guest is overserved. Unfortunately, all of these are common things. Usually something will go wrong at your wedding, you just hope it's something small. You don't often hear about a groom or bride having to go to the hospital on their wedding day! That's what ended up happening to this New York groom after he choked during the reception! Always remember to chew! See a video report shared by WIVBTV on YouTube below.

According to WIVB, Emily MacKinnon and Nicholas Birke were getting married on August 23rd. A nice summer wedding. It was happening at the Botanical Gardens in South Buffalo. Sounds beautiful. Then, one bite changed the course of the night.

Emily tells WIVB, "At dinner is when I took my second bite of food and I looked at my dear husband, and I said, 'This is great, isn't it?' And I looked at him, and he is red and purple, choking. So, I started slapping him on the back." The culprit was a roast potato in his throat.

Thankfully, he was okay and later returned to the wedding for some dancing! Read more about what went down from WIVB here.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
