Yelling for help...singing Nickelback...the two might sound alike. It's easy to confuse the two, I suppose. According to the Vancouver Sun, the Central Okanagan Search and Rescue crew were out training when they received reports of someone yelling for help near the Boulderfields which is a popular climbing spot near the Kettle Valley Railway. Hikers reported hearing repeated cries out in the woods. When crews arrived, they could hear the faint yelling but couldn't make out what was being said. Eventually, they found a man who had been camping alone belting out Nickelback's greatest hits.

The search and rescue team tells Vancouver Sun that the camper was "singing his heart out to the trees, blissfully unaware that the acoustics of the Boulderfields had turned his tent-side concert into an accidental distress signal." How embarrassing would that be?
The team ended up joking that their services are always free and the money you save could be spent on singing lessons, via Vancouver Sun. You don't want to think you're alone in the wilderness only to have emergency crews sent out because of your singing. That would be quite shocking.
