A Long Island man wearing a 20-pound chain was killed in an MRI accident. We shared this story when it broke on Dave & Chuck The Freak.

Now, we're learning more details about the story and questions we had are being answered. When the story came out, we were confused how the necklace didn't simply break off of his neck. The latest reports say that the Long Island man was wearing a 20-pound chain necklace with a padlock on it, per The New York Post. That's incredibly heavy and no wonder it didn't break off!

Long Island Man Wearing 20-Pound Chain Killed In MRI Accident

According to The New York Post, 61-year-old Keith McAllister died after suffering several heart attacks following the tragic incident. It happened at Nassau Open MRI in Westbury last week. Reports say that his wife, Adrienne Jones-McAllister was undergoing a routine knee scan in the MRI machine when he entered to help her get back on her feet but was wearing a 20-pound necklace as part of his weight training.

The New York Post says that when he entered the exam room with the technician, the machine suddenly switched him around and pulled him in. Sounds like they tried to pry him off the machine and pleaded to turn it off but were unable to free him, unfortunately.

When MRI machines are on, they create a very strong magnetic field that can attract metal objects just like his chain. That's why they always ask if you are wearing any metal or have any metal on you or in you when you go to get an MRI. This is horrific but now we know more about what happened. You can see the full report from The New York Post here.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
