Kim Jong-un waves from his car after arriving by train at Dong Dang railway station near the border with China on February 26, 2019 in Lang Son, Vietnam. Reports have indicated that both leaders could agree on a joint statement declaring an end to the 1950-53 Korean War while denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and ending international sanctions against Pyongyang is expected to be discussed during the summit. North Korea is reportedly planning on opening a beach resort to boost tourism. You looking for a little summer vacation?
Going to North Korea for a beach getaway would be a wild decision, but it might be a choice you can soon make (if you decide to). Maybe you've grown used to all the beaches in Florida or in New England and are looking for something new. Well, it doesn't get much newer or exciting than this. It's safe to say your friends haven't done this and your followers haven't seen anything like it on their Instagram and TikTok accounts. Would you go to North Korea for a beach vacation? I'm having trouble trusting it. See a video detailing some of the plans shared on social media below.

That video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @CollinRugg and now has more than 5.3M views. That's certifiably viral which means a lot of people are getting eyes on the possibility of traveling to North Korea for a beach vacation. They may be getting their eyes on it, but are they actually considering going? You always hear about those fake grocery stores in North Korea that are built to look like real ones to fool people into thinking they're living great there. Could this be something like that? Are all the water slides up to code? Will Americans even be allowed to visit?
The post on X is captioned, "NEW: North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un to open a beach resort this summer to boost tourism. The resort is along a 2.5 mile stretch of beach and can host 20,000 visitors. It was completed six years after the target date. The resort is on the east coast of North Korea and features hotels, restaurants, shopping malls along with a water park. Wonsan Kalma is near where Kim grew up and is where the North Korean elite have their private villas. The resort will likely be opened to North Koreans initially and eventually to Chinese and Russian tourists. It's unclear if North Korea will ever open it to the rest of the world."
Oh, no! It sounds like we aren't invited or welcomed to the beach resort! That's a bummer. Wonder why it took them 6 years longer than expected. I'm assuming it wasn't to make sure everything is up to code. You don't hear about North Korean beach resorts often so maybe this will be what changes the country's reputation. They have a long way to go and a lot of work to do.
