Was a South Carolina petting zoo worker killed by a kangaroo? That's what it sounds like! You never expect it at a petting zoo.

When you think of a petting zoo, you probably think of a calm and cute time for the family. What could possibly go wrong at the petting zoo? Well, it turns out there's a lot that could end up going wrong. For example, you could be killed by a kangaroo. It sounds like that's what happened to one worker in South Carolina. According to The New York Post, the brother of a South Carolina petting zoo owner was apparently beaten to death. Was he going in there to roughhouse with it?

The New York Post says Eric Slate's body was found inside the facility at 5-Star Farm near Loris, South Carolina. The 52-year-old reportedly had a history of stepping into the kangaroo enclosure and roughhousing with it. It's believed that's what was happening when he died.

The farm recently shared a photo of the kangaroo, named Mr. Jack saying, "He loved neck scratches and will take treats from your hands," per The New York Post.

Now, experts are comin to ensure that the enclosure if safe and that the animal is okay. South Carolina is known to have some of the loosest restrictions in the country when it comes to ownership of exotic animals. Only 2 other states reportedly will allow you to own a kangaroo. You'd never expect to hear about this happening at a petting zoo!
