Idiot Criminal Of The Day: Kansas Man Arrested For Stealing 800lb Cannon To Settle Drug Debt

The Kansas man arrested for stealing an 800lb cannon to allegedly settle a drug debt is our Idiot Criminal Of The Day. You can't do that!

Don't get me wrong, it would be incredible to have a Spanish American War cannon. People would love that and it probably could cover your drug debt in most cases. Not everyone has an 800lb cannon! That could make you the talk of the town. According to The New York Post, Gordon Pierce III was arrested after the 1794 cannon went missing from its podium in a park in Wichita. It was later discovered chopped into pieces according to reports. Pierce later told investigators that he was a meth user and owed his dealer $20k and he was scared for his loved ones if he didn't come up with the cash, per The New York Post. FOX 9 reports that Pierce told law enforcement that he had some meth he was supposed to sell but it was stolen so he owed his dealer $20k or the dealer said he was going to shoot him and his family.

Sounds like he ended up cutting the cannon up so he could fit it in his car. He then took the pieces of the cannon to the drug dealer to show he was trying to get the money he owed but the drug dealer still wasn't buying it, per FOX 9. Reports say officers found a baggie on him with a white crystal-like substance during the arrest which he claimed was methamphetamine.

According to FOX 9, he remains in the Sedgwick County Jail on charges of theft of property, aggravated criminal damage to property and possession of drug paraphernalia. He's expected back in court for an arraignment hearing on May 22nd. Sounds like he was really spooked by this drug dealer but that doesn't mean you can go and do this!
