A man was filmed wakeboarding on a flooded Arkansas highway is now going viral online. You don't see that every day.
In the viral video, you can see the man wakeboarding in the flood waters while behind dragged behind what appears to be a boat traveling in the waters. That must have been some serious flooding. Next to him, you can see cars and semi-trucks still on the highway trying to drive as he glides on by them. According to FOX 7 Austin, the man seen in the video is Blane Waggoner who was wakeboarding on Interstate 57 in Jacksonville, Arkansas which is just outside of Little Rock. At one point a semi even honks at him as he goes by! Check out the viral video shared by @FoxWeather on TikTok below.
Man Wakeboarding In Flooded Waters On Arkansas Highway
You would never expect to see that along the highway. People driving by probably couldn't believe what they were seeing. That's one way to get outside and have some fun during bad weather. There must have been some serious rainfall before the video in order for there to be that much water for him to wakeboard on. According to FOX 7 Austin, between 9 and 10 inches of rain fell in the city around that time so that would explain why there's so much flood water.
Waggoner tells FOX Weather, "I try to take a boat out anytime there is nice weather. This wasn't too far out of the ordinary for me. It was a good excuse to get on a board." Seems like he's quite the character I would imagine. Has to be the life of the party.
However, it's not all fun and games in that type of weather. The state of Arkansas had its request for an Emergency Declaration for Direct Federal Assistance approved due to storms and tornados in the state that caused flooding, per FOX 7 Austin. FOX 7 Austin also reports that at least 2 fatalities and a dozen injuries were reported in Arkansas in connection to the severe weather event.
