A Chinese restaurant closed its doors when it was revealed that their Roasted Duck was actually Street Pigeon! There's a big difference.
Duck is considered a delicacy. It's rich and tasty. While I've never had Street Pigeon, I have to imagine they would have different tastes and it wouldn't be as good. Otherwise, you'd hear a lot more about them at restaurants and such. Now, a Chinese restaurant in Madrid, Spain, Jin Gu Chinese, has been closed down after authorities found that the alleged Roasted Duck was actually plucked and cooked Street Pigeon. An investigation is now underway as well.

LAD Bible reports that law enforcement also found meat strips hanging from clothes horses, unlabeled meat, and fish stored in non-functioning freezers, along with roaches and rat traps, and several other violations. I would hate to realize the duck I had been eating was actually Street Pigeon. You don't want that.
When people talk about delicious street food, they're talking about food that's sold on the street--not food that was found on the street and cooked. There's a big difference there! It's important.
LAD Bible says other forbidden and illegal items were also found at the restaurant like Sea cucumbers which are forbidden by strict marine laws. Street pigeons have been known to carry various diseases so hopefully they were able to cook it well enough to avoid any of those potential problems. Despite these issues, the restaurant does have a solid rating on Google with many positive reviews talking about the restaurant. That could be changing now that this information has come to light.
