Is China adding escalators on mountains? Yes, they are and it's great for any Lazy Baby who wants to enjoy a "hike."
Of course, the term "hike" is being used pretty loosely when you talk about using an escalator to go up the mountain. However, you still get to be outside, you can still enjoy the views, and it's something to do to stay active. I mean, sure, not as active as walking the mountain but it's better than nothing, right? A mountain resort in Jianxi, China has invested millions of dollars into a network of escalators to allow people to reach its mountain peaks without much effort. Is this a good idea or is it just lazy?
China Adding Escalators On Mountains
Escalators on mountains sounds funny at first but there could be some benefits! According to Oddity Central, the project started in 2022 and is expected to finally be completed next month. I'm thinking it could be good for tourism. Lots of people are going to want to come check it out to see what it's all about and you'll get a crowd of people who have wanted to climb mountains but weren't physically able to make the challenge. Now, they'll be able to! That's exciting! It's not China's first escalator on a mountain but it is expected to be the biggest and most complex.
The first to do it was Tanyu Mountain in China's Zhejiang Province, per Oddity Central. Another is in Lingshan. What do you think? Is this a good idea? Should the United States start adding escalators on mountains? Check out a video about these escalators on mountains below.
