Exploding Toilet Sends Pittsburgh Man To The Hospital

An exploding toilet sent a Pittsburgh man to the hospital. Talk about an explosive bathroom session.

Maybe some of your friends have joked around before about exploding in the bathroom or something like that. Typically, they are talking about a massive bowel movement. However, this bathroom explosion is a bit different. It's literally an exploding toilet. It wasn't an act of terrorism or anything like that, just bad plumbing. It did result in one man needing to go to the hospital to treat his injuries. Thankfully, he's going to be okay and will live. He got treated for a gash on his leg. Now, he'll have this story to share for the rest of his life.

Seriously, can you imagine experiencing an exploding toilet? How scary would that be? You would never expect to see that happen. The bathroom is supposed to be a place you can relax and take your mind off of things for a while. After hearing about this happening it's going to be very hard to relax in the bathroom for a bit. This is going to be all I can think about for a while in there.

Photos from the scene show all that is left after the tank shattered and left sharp edges of porcelain behind. According to WJAC-TV, it happened on the 5th floor of the city-county building. The 911 dispatch call said, "Along with EMS and the sheriff's units, requesting a city officer respond in the mayor's office area. They have a 65-year-old male with a gash to his leg after having a toilet explode," per WJAC-TV. Reports say the employee was injured by the exploding toilet which was caused by a plumbing fixture failure. He was able to walk to the ambulance, so the gash wasn't too bad. It sounds like it's been reported for a while that the building has poor conditions. WJAC-TV says reports showed peeling paint, broken urinals, fountains with mold, and elevators that didn't work. A lot of city buildings seem to have problems like this, you just hope you aren't on or near the exploding toilet when this happens.

It's good that he's going to be okay, it would be a terrible way to go out. You have to be careful in those old city buildings! You don't want this story to star you in it next time it happens.
