Did A Twerk Video Get An Alaska Flight Attendant Fired?
Did a twerk video get an Alaska flight attendant fired? That’s what it sounds like!
A former flight attendant on Alaska Airlines is now running a GoFundMe after losing her job over a twerk video that has since gone viral online. Nelle Diala had only been working there for 6 months before being terminated for breaching social media guidelines. Who knew a quick 20 second video could get you in so much trouble? It sounds like she shared the video while waiting for pilots to board the plane and was celebrating the end of her probationary period. Well, she’s not celebrating any more. The original video had the caption of “Ghetto Till I Die, Don’t Let The Uniform Fool You.” Some viewers of the video started asking for her to be let go as it was seen as inappropriate to be doing that in uniform. People want to feel safe while flying and maybe this didn’t help. Check out the video that started all the drama shared by @hearasap below.
Was A Flight Attendant Let Go Over A Viral Twerk Video?
While the video might seem harmless. She doesn’t really do anything wild or inappropriate in the video just a little twerk dance while celebrating. The internet is full of videos like this. However, doing it in uniform on the job probably isn’t the best idea. It’s like something you’d see on Halloween with someone dressed as a flight attendant, you don’t want the real things doing this before your flight. I can understand that. However, it just seems to me like she’s happy and celebrating. Maybe give her a firm talking to but to lose your job over it? Seems like it might be a bit excessive. What do you think?
Comments are divided, as the internet usually is. One commenter was showing her support by saying, “She’s not disrupting service and literally no one is on the aircraft. Why fire her?” However, not everyone seems to share that perspective. Another user commented, “Flight attendant rules are, while wearing your uniform you are representing the company. I don’t think she should be fired but I’m sure her inflight manager had a talk with her.” Yeah, the problem is wearing the uniform while doing it. That’s what likely did her in. Going through the comments, it seems like most people are supporting her and saying she should not have been fired over this.
