Kansas City Woman Bails Out Of Car Sliding On Black Ice
A video is going viral showing a Kansas City woman bailing out of her car that’s sliding on black ice. What would you have done?
Black ice is one of the worst things about winter. It’s the other silent but deadly that’s less discussed. If you find yourself on some, you end up being essentially powerless as you go out of control. What can you do? You have the option to just sit in the car and wait for it to collide into something. You can try to steer it back into control but that’s difficult and easy to overshoot or overcompensate. However, there is another option that’s not very common but you have the choice to make if you find yourself on black ice. You can bail. Jump out of the car to avoid being a part of a collision. That’s what one Kansas City woman decided to do. What would you have done in this situation? You can see the viral video shared by @kake.news on Instagram below.

While it might save you from being in a collision, jumping out of a moving car on the road comes with some risks on its own. You could be run over by your own vehicle, you could hit your head on the fall out, or you could be struck by another vehicle on the road. It doesn’t seem like the safest move but when you’re in a car you can’t control you might not make the best decisions.
The viral video is captioned, “A driver jumps from her car while sliding on ice in Kansas City on Sunday.” It seems like the video was originally recorded and shared by Houston DeFoe who was credited in the caption. Many commenters say it wasn’t a good decision to jump out of the car and that she shouldn’t have done that. Another commenter hopes that the insurance company sees this when she goes to file a claim. That’s something I didn’t think about. Would your insurance mind if you weren’t in the car when it happened? Would it be better if you were inside? I’m not sure how any of that works but it would be good to know.
It sounds like the woman bailed out of the car safely and was okay. That had to have been a scary moment. You have to imagine she was freaking out in the car not knowing what to do then finally came to the conclusion that it would be best if she bailed. The car kept sliding on the black ice and eventually ran off the road. Thankfully, it didn’t hit anyone while it was out of control.
