Collapsed Folding Chair Leaves Man In Critical Condition
A collapsed folding chair left a man in critical condition fighting for his life. It sounds like a pipe impaled his anus! Ouch!
This is not what you want to have happen. I guess anything can seriously injure you and you really never expect it to end up being your folding chair. However, this folding chair incident left a Japanese man fighting for his life after he was impaled by a metal pipe. If you’ve ever used a folding chair, you’ve probably had it collapse on you at some point. It’s fairly common and is usually just laughed off. It’s scary for a second but that’s it. This time around was a little bit different. Your folding chair doesn’t often leave you in critical condition and you certainly don’t want this accident to happen to your and your anus.
How Did A Folding Chair Leave A Man In Critical Condition?
According to Daily Mail, the 51-year-old was sitting on a folding chair at home when it happened to crumble and collapse sending him on top of a metal pipe that ended up penetrating his anus. He ended up lying in the bathroom floor for around an hour in pain after it happened. Thankfully, a relative was able to find him and called an ambulance. By the time paramedics arrived, it sounds like he had lost a significant amount of blood and was in shock, as you can understand. I know I’d be in shock. “What just happened??”
Once at the hospital, doctors were able to determine the severity of the accident and saw that it did affect his iliac vein and artery. Later, they found that there was no active bleeding and a hematoma had formed. Thankfully, the pipe in his anus ended up missing a nearby artery that would have caused much more damage and likely would have led to some high-pressure bleeding if it’s punctured. Now, what’s unknown is if the man came to the hospital with the pipe still inside of him or if it had already exited or if he had already freed himself from the rogue pipe. I’m sure many people were wondering and unfortunately there’s no answer to that question right now.
It seemed like he was recovering okay but then a day after being discharged from the hospital he noticed some swelling developing in his leg which was a sign of a blood clot. Daily Mail reports he ended up being in the hospital for 11 days before being sent home. Then, once home the swelling started. He had to take a blood thinner and has promised to keep up on taking them. Doctors tell Daily Mail, “Since then, the patient has regularly attended outpatient follow-up appointments without any recurrence of lower-extremity swelling, and he has resumed driving without issues.”
