Study Says People Having More Threesomes Than Ever

A recent poll by sex toy company Adam & Eve found that 49% of Americans have had a threesome–including 59% of men! That’s a huge increase compared to what the numbers used to say. Previously, polls found that it was about 15% of people who said they’ve had one. Are people having more threesomes or are they lying about having one to seem cool? It seems like it would be a weird thing to start lying about when people could have before. It’s not like the idea of a threesome just recently became cool or a common fantasy. It’s long been one of the most popular fantasies out there. Little did we know it is getting more popular by the year!

According to PR Newswire, Adam & Eve asked 1,000 adults how many of them had ever participated in a threesome and that’s where the data comes from. PR Newswire says 49% of people polled said they have participated in a threesome. That’s almost half! That’s crazy and I would never have expected the number to be that high. Of course, 3% preferred not to answer…so I feel like we can count that extra 3% as a “yes” because why wouldn’t you answer? A “no” would have been perfectly acceptable. What are you hiding, people??

Dr. Jenni Skyler, a resident sexologist at Adam & Eve, tells PR Newswire, “A threesome is the most common sexual fantasy among American adults. This is because the desire for sexual novelty and variety is strong with many people. However, real threesomes are not always as easy and exciting as the fantasy. It’s important to proceed cautiously so that all parties understand their motives. Sometimes, one person agrees only to please their partner; other times, one person fears missing out due to living a monogamous lifestyle.” She continued, “A threesome may be the most popular fantasy, but it’s ranked as one of the most disappointing, too. Consent and communication are mandatory to avoid jealousy and misunderstandings.”
