The rebooted Jumanji franchise, based on a 1981 children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg, and the 1995 movie of the same name, will have a part 3 set for a December 2026 release date.

No Official Title for Jumanji 3 Yet

The rebooted Jumanji movies follow a group of teenagers trapped inside a video game, modernizing the 1995 movie in which Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, Kirsten Dunst, and Bradley Pierce were confined to playing and finishing a supernatural board game.

The 2017 installment was officially titled Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, while its 2019 sequel was called Jumanji: The Next Level. There has yet to be an official announcement regarding the third film.

The Main Leads Are Back for More Jungle Adventure

In a report by Variety, the main leads are set to reprise their role. Dwayne Johson as the invincible archaeologist Dr. Bravestone, Kevin Hart as the zoologist Mouse Finbar with a literal weakness for cake, Jack Black as the cartographer Professor Shelly Oberon, and Karen Gillan as “killer of men” Ruby Roundhouse.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gillan said, “I’m sure it’s tricky to wrangle everyone’s schedules, but I haven’t heard anything about it other than the fact that we will be doing it at some point. So, we’re all so enthusiastic about it. We all love working on those films, and it’s just a matter of when.”

Aside from the main actors, Jake Kasdan, the director of the two preceding Jumanji films will also direct the third one.

Final Installment to the Franchise

In a 2022 interview, Johnson affirmed Gillan's sentiment and said he “cannot wait to make the third movie.” He also shared that Kasdan is already working on it and it could be the final installment of the franchise. “Jake has a very, very special cool idea that for Jumanji 3 — could be the finale.” He’s been mum about other details but promised, “In the spirit of that, it’s really special. I’ll just say that.”

December 2026 Release Date

According to DeadlineJumanji 3 is scheduled for release on December 11, 2026, as confirmed by Sony. This release date falls within the same timeframe as the previous Jumanji films, with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle debuting on December 5, 2017, and Jumanji: The Next Level hitting theaters on December 13, 2019.
