Baltimore Man Busted Allegedly Stealing Traffic Cameras

A Baltimore man has been busted allegedly stealing traffic cameras in the area. You can't do that and you're likely to get caught!

That's not to say he got away with it. They were able to trace it back to him. However, it's still a bold move. Law enforcement has tied several thefts to him and believe there may be dozens more!

Stealing cameras sounds like a risky move. At one point, that camera is still working and is going to capture you trying to steal it. However, that's not going to stop people from trying to steal them. It sounds like he even had a disguise he wore while doing it! Who is this guy?

According to The Baltimore Banner, a man wearing a hard hat and boots was seen exiting a white van to mess with some speed cameras on West Patapsco Avenue in South Baltimore. During an interview, Baltimore City Police Officer Regan Miller told The Baltimore Banner, "Anyone driving by would've thought, 'Oh, they're doing something with the speed cameras." However, he was not a maintenance worker. He was pulling out a grinder saw and cutting through the locks to remove the cameras, per The Baltimore Banner.

According to The Baltimore Banner, the man has been identified as 67-year-old Daniel Thomas Kerins and he has since been charged with stealing 4 cameras in 3 locations around the city. However, they are continuing to investigate whether he is responsible for other camera thefts that have occurred--which could mean he's responsible for dozen more thefts. The Banner reports that Baltimore has a network of roughly 160 of these speed cameras dotting the city landscape and it's estimated they will bring in $26.8 million in revenue from tickets this year.

Like I pointed out earlier, stealing a camera means you're going to be on camera for a least a moment before you break it off--and that's what happened. The white van was also spotted as several scenes and police were able to do the math it sounds like. Law enforcement remain unsure of his motive. According to The Baltimore Banner, he doesn't have a rich history of speed camera violations. Maybe it was just some vigilante justice.

While committing crimes may seem black and white (you either broke the law or you didn't), there are certainly some crimes that are dumber than others. Sometimes it's the crime itself that's wild, other times, it's the people committing said crimes. These are 5 of the craziest, cringeworthy crimes ever committed.

Crimes can happen anywhere, anytime, to anyone. However, it takes a very unique individual, a case study if you will, to commit some of these outrageously dumb crimes. Years ago, these criminals would have been featured on Spike TV or one of those America's Dumbest Criminal shows. Today, I'm not sure if those shows are around...and I'm certain Spike TV isn't around anymore. That's a story for another time.

Crimes can happen for a number of reasons. They may happen out of necessity. They could also happen on accident. These crimes, however, do not fall into those categories. These crimes are different. None of these would accidentally happen. They also aren't a matter of life or death. There's no ethics quiz here, or any matters of 'would you steal bread to support your family?' These crimes, and criminals, aren't straight up cringeworthy.

While all of these crimes are crazy and certainly cringeworthy, they also make for excellent conversation pieces. That's why I've gone and found five examples of the wildest stories that Dave and Chuck the Freak have talked about and made a list highlighting the best of the best.
