Unfortunately, it seems like he's not the first person that's had this happen to them. It's probably more common than we think, but that doesn't make it any more welcomed. Finding some scary spider eggs in your car is far from ideal.
Why Did The Internet Tell A Guy To 'Burn His Car?'
Florida is famous not only for its Florida Man stories, but also for the vast amount of scary bugs, animals, and reptiles that call the Sunshine State home. There are poisonous snakes, alligators, tons of mosquitos, and, yes, spiders. It sounds like this guy was quite shocked when he discovered some spider egg sacs in his car after taking it to the repair shop. They might have repaired what needed fixing, but he left with a whole new problem.
According to Newsweek, Reddit user Mason, u/Mumu2148, shared the discovery on r/WTF a subreddit for crazy things like this--just as the name implies. He captioned the post, "Found these in my car door after getting it back from a repair shop." In the picture, you can see at least 3 spider egg sacs that are very noticeable. The Reddit post quickly racked up 8,000 upvotes and went viral on the site. He said he removed them as quickly as possible, smart thinking, but is still sweating the experience. There could definitely be more in spots he hasn't checked. Commenters on Reddit pointed out that they likely belong to Brown Widows and it's a good thing he removed them. Their egg sacs could contain hundreds of tiny baby spiders and you don't want that exploding in your car while you're driving--that could be dangerous.
While some commenters shared his panic and fear, others pointed out that it's very common in Florida and you can probably find it on every chair that's outside. It seems like no big deal to some people but I would not want it in my car waiting for them to hatch. No, thank you!
