My 15-year-old Wrote This Awesome Green Day Fenway Review
Green Day brought their Saviors Tour to town, so I brought along my favorite concert correspondent to write up a Green Day Fenway review.
It was a full-circle moment of sorts for Kade: their first big rock show was the Hella Mega Tour with Green Day and Weezer at Fenway Park in the summer of 2021. That was their first Green Day Fenway review, too. You can read it here.
Since then, I've put them to work covering Spoon in Providence, Red Hot Chili Peppers at Fenway, Smashing Pumpkins at the Garden, and Boston Calling 2023. They're building up quite the resume! Take it away, Kade.

Green Day performed 'Dookie' front-to-back at Fenway Park on August 7, 2024.
Green Day Fenway Review: "Killer Show!"
We arrived at Fenway Park shortly after The Linda Lindas ended (thanks a lot, traffic) and hopped into the merch line immediately. Once we procured a shirt for me (thanks, Mom!), we found our seats. And it was just in time for Rancid to take the stage.
They were great. I only knew "Time Bomb" and "Ruby Soho" going in, but I enjoyed the whole set regardless. After Rancid, we moved down to the turf for a better view of Smashing Pumpkins. I've seen them before (you should read my review if I wrote one; I can't remember).
Editor's note: they did; it's linked above & here.
The Pumpkins were just as amazing this time around, if not better! It was so cool to see them up close, and I went crazy when they played "Beguiled." Definitely a rad performance. Now, for the main event: Green Day.

Green Day also performed 'American Idiot' in its entirety at Fenway Park on August 7, 2024.
Green Day Fenway Review: Having a Blast
Seeing Green Day at Fenway was a pretty big deal for me because seeing them at Fenway for the Hella Mega Tour back in 2021 was the first real concert I ever went to. I got a little emotional when they came on stage, honestly, because it was kind of like going back in time.
Anyway, enough of all that.
They show was great! They had the giant inflatable plane from the cover of Dookie (so cool!), along with breathtaking backdrops that were perfect. And there were blown-up replicas of their album covers commanding the stage.
Hearing them play (almost) all my favorite songs was one thing, but Billie Joe's energy was really something else. He's a fantastic performer and his vibes are simply infectious. I'm so lucky to have been able to see them for a second time!
All in all, everyone was fantastic and I had a great time. Simply put, I love live music!

The author and their dad, who loves them very much.
Thanks for taking time to read Kade's Green Day Fenway review. Keep scrolling for a few more pics from the show.
Fenway Park, August 2024

The scene at the corner of Brookline Ave. and Jersey St., outside Fenway Park before the Green Day 'Saviors' Tour in August of 2024.
Rancid at Fenway Park

Green Day and Rancid came out of the California punk scene right around the same time. Green Day "sold out" and became one of the biggest rock bands in the world. Rancid didn't "sell out." Yet they both got to play Fenway Park. So who wins?
Smashing Pumpkins at Fenway Park

Pumpkins guitarist James Iha isn't pictured here, but when he came on stage to greet the crowd, Kade quipped: "James, blink twice if you're in danger."
Green Day's 'Dookie' Plane

The 'Dookie' plane spent a solid two songs hovering over the Fenway Park crowd while Green Day played the album through. It dropped stuff on the crowd, too. It wasn't actual dookie, thankfully.
Tre Cool of Green Day

Tre Cool now looks like your cool-yet-shady Italian uncle who would ask you to come sit on his lap when you were a kid and probably gave you a quarter or a piece of gum and told you all the cool stories about the antics he and your dad would get up to when he was your age.
