What Was A Man Arrested For A Columbus Petland Break-In Hiding In His Pants?
What was a man arrested for a Columbus Petland break-in hiding in his pants? Well, let’s say it probably wasn’t there when he arrived!
A man in Columbus, Ohio went on a bit of a crime spree this week. Reports say he broke into several businesses in West Columbus. One of those stores was a Petland where police found an open door when they arrived along with many animals roaming free in the store! However, that’s not all.
What Was A Man Arrested For A Columbus Petland Break-In Hiding In His Pants?
According to WCMH, when Columbus police officers arrived at the scene birds, dogs, rabbits, gerbils, and ferrets were all running free in the store. Officers were able to recover most of the animals that were let loose in the store, except for a few gerbils, ferrets, and rabbits.
Columbus Police Sgt. Joe Albert told 10 WBNS, “One day, you’re running after a suspect. The next day, you’re running after ferrets and bunnies.”
A Roosters and a Famous Footwear were also broke-into along Hilliard Rome Road in the area and blood was discovered on some merchandise inside the Famous Footwear, per WCMH. That helped lead to a suspect who was found roughly an hour later in the parking lot of a Big Lots on Roberts Road. 10 WBNS has identified the suspect as Michael Pancake.
According to WCMH, police found several unharmed gerbils inside the man’s pants. They were able to safely remove them and the man was treated for his injuries from breaking into the local businesses. Those poor animals! Terrible decision for him to go in and do that. Additionally, not a smart choice to put animals down your pants. They do have teeth! Who knows what might happen, but it’s only inviting potential problems.
It’s still not clear what charges Pancake will be facing and if the other missing animals have been located. See more on the Columbus Petland break-in in a video shared by WBNS 10TV on YouTube below.
