A red-eye Delta service from Detroit to the Netherlands reportedly had to be diverted after passengers were served spoiled food on the flight! Food poisoning is bad enough when you're on the ground, let alone stranded in a flying cylinder.

It's a good thing they seemed to quickly realize that the food was spoiled or that could have been an incredibly long flight for everyone involved. Now, much like a cheesy comedian, we're all asking, "what's the deal with airplane food?"

Passengers Were Served Spoiled Food On Delta Flight

It's bad enough having to eat airplane food, but the last thing you want is to be served spoiled food. According to FOX 2 Detroit, Delta 136 departed out of Detroit around 11pm on Tuesday, July 2nd but had to turn around a few hours into the flight after some of the main cabin in-flight meals were determined to be spoiled. So, instead of making the trip across the pond to the Netherlands, they had to land at JFK in New York City close to 4am.

FOX 2 Detroit reports that Delta released a statement saying, "Delta flight 136 from Detroit to Amsterdam diverted to New York's JFK early Wednesday morning after reports that a portion of the Main Cabin in-flight meal service were spoiled. Medical crews met the aircraft to treat any affected passengers and crew members. Delta's Food Safety team has engaged our suppliers to immediately isolate the product and launch a thorough investigation into the incident. This is not the service Delta is known for and we sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and delay in their travels."

Unfortunately, this is not the only issue on a flight between Detroit and Amsterdam recently. Earlier this year, a flight heading to Detroit from Amsterdam had to turn around after a passenger opened the overhead bin and maggots fell out and landed on a woman's head, per FOX 2 Detroit. I remember when we talked about that story on Dave & Chuck The Freak.

Why Was A Flight From Detroit To Amsterdam Diverted?

Honestly, it seems like we're hearing a new horror story from the not-so-friendly skies every day now! Whether it's maggots falling from the overhead bin, spoiled food, doors flying off the plane, or missing parts--there's always something! As if flying wasn't already nerve-wracking enough!

FOX 2 Detroit says Delta did not know how many passengers had consumed the food and medical crews were available to treat any affected passengers and crew members. I think it's going to be a long time until I get on an airplane. All of this makes a 24-hour drive not so bad!

All things we've come to learn and expect from the one and only Dave Hunter. Well, our one-and-only Dave Hunter. There is still that guy who wrote the travel book about I-75. Anyways, back to the important Dave!

Dave's Other Job Offer

Can you imagine Dave in any other job? It would definitely be interesting! Well, it could soon become a reality. Dave received an offer from an erotic novelist to record the audio versions of her books and although he considered it, he doesn't think his wife or the company would approve of him taking it as a side gig. I would buy that audio book!

Dave's Got Drugs In His Pockets

Dave & Chuck the Freak talk about a guy who claimed the drugs in his pockets weren't his and neither were the pants he was wearing. Dave then plays the song, 'Drugs in my Pockets' by The Monks but no one on the show has ever heard that song before. Turns out, the song isn't bad! Well, at least as bad as Dave's version of it. Check out BOTH versions above!

Dave's Plane Ass Incident

Somehow, Dave always ends up in the most awkward situations. There's one common denominator: himself. Dave was involved in an uncomfortable situation on an airplane over the weekend. He accidentally squirted hand sanitizer on a man's ass that was standing in front of him and wanted to know if he handled the situation correctly.

Dave's Patio Furniture Update

It's the update we've been waiting for! Last year, Dave made a delivery mistake and sent outdoor patio furniture to people in Florida after meeting them one time. He shares an update after finding out the people kept the furniture for themselves and never said anything. Would you have done what Dave did? What would you have done in this situation?

Who Won't Stop Texting Dave?

Technology has come a long way over the years. However, it still has a way to go. Dave & Chuck the Freak talk about an odd problem that Dave is experiencing involving his robot vacuum. It won't stop texting him saying that it's stuck, even when it's not plugged in. Everyone says this is a problem only gadget man Dave would have to deal with.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
