They say, “don’t do the crime if you won’t do the time,” but it doesn’t seem like all the criminals are familiar with the old saying. How many times have we talked about a crazy attempt to evade police on Dave & Chuck The Freak? People try to hide, they’ll try to start a police chase, or they’ll jump into a river. That’s what happened this time, but it didn’t end the way he had hoped. Learn more on the story and check out their mugshots below!
Man Tries To Escape Police By Jumping The Colorado River
According to 8 News Now, Thomas Raymond Morgan has been identified as the man who jumped into the Colorado River while trying to evade police. 8 News Now reports Morgan jumped into the river with a bag of drugs as he tried to escape police in Laughlin, Nevada. After jumping in the Colorado River, he did surrender to authorities. However, his accomplice was able to get out of there on foot and police are still looking for her.
8 News Now reports that detectives from the Bullhead City Police MAGNET (Mohave Area General Narcotic Enforcement Team) had been investigating Morgan and Ashley Fay Nail in connection with drug sales in the area and had felony warrants out for their arrest.
On June 27th, Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to pull the pair over but they couple fled. This led police on a chase through Bullhead City in which they did clip another vehicle during the chase but nobody was injured, per 8 News Now. Eventually, the two of them ditched the vehicle and took off on foot. That’s when Morgan jumped into the river and Nail continued running. 8 News Now reports that a vacuum-sealed package containing roughly 1,000 blue M-30 counterfeit fentanyl pills were also recovered from the river. Investigators are still searching the area for more drugs and evidence.
Morgan has been arrested on a charge of unlawful flight from law enforcement and charges related to the drugs discovered are expected to be filed, as well. Authorities are still on the search for Nail and anyone with information is asked to call the Bullhead City Police Department at (928) 763-1999.
