For many people, this would be their worst nightmare. You’re stuck out in the middle of the biggest ocean on planet earth and no matter where you look, you’re surrounded by only water. Seemingly endless water. How did he end up there? Read about the story and check out a video he posted below!
What’s It Like To Be Stuck In The Middle Of The Pacific Ocean?
It sounds like the plot of a movie. Castaway meets The Life Of Pi. This nightmare scenario became all too real for the sailor-influencer who goes by @sailing_songbird on social media. According to The New York Post, he was more than 1,000 miles from land in every direction. That is not where you want to be stranded.
His viral video now has more than 32 million views on TikTok and that number is only continuing to climb. In the video’s caption, the influencer writes, “So disorienting with nothing on the horizon.” No kidding! I’d have no idea which direction to head or where I’m going. I would not fare well out in the open sea, that’s for sure.
However, it seems like he’s a bit more comfortable out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean than many of us would be. The New York Post reports the content creator quit his job as a music teacher to sail solo around the Pacific Ocean on a 27-foot sailboat. He then documents his travels for his 1.5 million followers on social media.
It was all smooth sailing until roughly a month into his voyage when he became stuck out at sea. You’re dependent on the wind when you’re traveling in a sailboat and if there’s no wind, there’s no moving. However, it seems like he made the most out of the experience and kind of enjoyed it! How would you have reacted? Check out the viral video of the sailor stuck in the middle of the Pacific Ocean below!
