Pizza Hut Is Bringing Back ‘Camp Book It!’
Good news to share as Pizza Hut announced they’ll be bringing back ‘Camp Book It!’ this summer! This should help incentivize kids to read over the summer!
The popular free incentive program will be running from June through August. Here’s more on the comeback below!
‘Camp Book It!’ Returning To Pizza Hut
For years, Pizza Hut has been encouraging kids to read with its long-standing ‘Book It!’ program. Now, the pizza chain will be rewarding young readers with free pizza during another year of ‘Camp Book It!’ according to People.
Looking to get involved? Whether it’s the free pizza or love of books that’s motivating you to get involved–it doesn’t matter! Enrollment is now open for both the summer program and the 2024-2024 school year program.
According to People, ‘Book It!’ is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary and is dedicated to encouraging reading across the country! I remember this from when I was in school and I’m sure in some way it helped shape my love for reading. Hopefully they can continue that trend and inspire a new generation!
What Is ‘Camp Book It!’ At Pizza Hut?
People shared an official mission statement that reads, “Our work is more than just a corporate mission, it’s a personal challenge to turn have to read into want to read. We know our time-tested incentives work. We are the largest and longest-running corporate supported reading program and now we are fostering the second generation of program alumni. We know that reading makes a difference.” A little braggy, but they make a good point. Few other brands have done as much as Pizza Hut has when it come to inspiring kids to pick up a book.
In the program, parents can set monthly reading goals within a digital dashboard and when kids reach these goals they are rewarded with Reading Award Certificates that are good for a free one-topping Personal Pizza Hut Pan Pizza. Mmm I love that greasy thick crust, there’s truly nothing like it.
Additionally, it doesn’t have to be books that your encouraging kids to read! It can be magazines, eBooks, comic books, anything to encourage the activity to teach them to enjoy reading and to not see it as a chore. According to People, participating children can only earn up to one free pizza each month that the program is running. So don’t get them to rush through books thinking they’re going to get unlimited pizza! The program is free to schools and parents to students in pre-K through 6th grade.
