Iowa Woman Fighting To Keep Her Emotional Support Goose
You’ve probably heard of emotional support dogs, but have you ever heard of an emotional support goose? A woman in Chariton, Iowa is now battling with the city so she can keep her beloved emotional support animal.
Geese are reportedly prohibited by Chariton’s municipal code, so she’s trying to convince them to let her keep the goose. Here’s more on her efforts and how it’s going.
Woman Fights To Keep Emotional Support Goose
According to KCCI, Angel Queener has an emotional support goose named Blue that she got as a pet roughly 14 months ago. However, he’s much more than just a pet. He’s become her emotional support goose. Queener tells KCCI, “He’s the light of my day. Every morning when I wake up and I see his face it just makes my day a thousand times better. I mean, he has helped me so much.”
KCCI says Queener claims to deal with PTSD, bipolar, ADHD, borderline personality disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder and the emotional support goose helps deal with all of that and makes her feel better. This goose means a lot to her. She tells KCCI that she is a recovering drug addict who is now 4 years sober and Blue has helped overcome and stay clean.
However, the city doesn’t allow people to keep geese as pets. Now, she’s fighting to register Blue as an official emotional support animal and that if he’s official he might be able to stay. There’s no word on the matter from the Chariton City Hall.
Blue isn’t the only unique pet out there that would become an emotional support animal. Remember Wally The Alligator? He was famous for it and recently has been stolen, according to reports. Clearly, Queener has a strong connection with her emotional support goose and I would hate to see them take the pet away or if she would have to move to a city that would allow it. That would be a major inconvenience!
