Cold Stone Creamery Reportedly Facing Class-Action Lawsuit
Cold Stone Creamery is reportedly facing a class-action lawsuit because their Pistachio Ice Cream is not made with pistachios! Instead, the company uses pistachio flavoring and now they could be in some trouble over the alleged betrayal of trust with the public.
This is the latest example of a fake food discovery. We’ve talked a lot about weird food concoctions on Dave & Chuck The Freak. However, usually these things just sound disgusting like Sour Patch Kids Oreos. Typically, they don’t end in a lawsuit! Here’s more on the story.
Cold Stone Creamery Facing Class Action Lawsuit Over Pistachio Ice Cream
People noticed that the ingredients for the Pistachio Ice Cream at Cold Stone Creamery was missing a certain ingredient: pistachios. Seems like a pretty necessary ingredient for that specific ice cream. If the label says pistachio there’s an unsaid understanding that there should be pistachios in the ice cream, right? That’s what people are saying.
Per The Guardian, A woman in Long Island noticed the lack of the ingredient and is now getting ready to start up a class-action lawsuit against Kahala Brands which is the parent company of Cold Stone Creamery.
According to The Guardian, a judge seems to be siding with the woman and lawyers are saying, “Had she known that the product did not contain pistachio, she would not have purchased it, or would have paid significantly less for it.” Sure, it makes sense that there’s the expectation for it. However, is it necessary to start a class-action lawsuit over? That depends on your perspective. Now, the judge has agreed that it’s worth looking into the issue. According to The Guardian, other flavors like mango, coconut, mint, and orange were also questioned for what they contain, the lawsuit will only be moving forward with the pistachio flavor ice cream.
What do you think? Do they have a case?
