Everything You Need To Know About Morning Wood
At last, everything you need to know about morning wood! Why do you get it? What does it mean? At some point, you may have wondered some of these questions yourself. It is fascinating, after all.
Turns out, there is science and reasoning behind it! Thankfully, Men’s Health has the answers! Here’s what they’re saying about morning wood.
What Is Morning Wood And Why Do Men Get It?
According to Men’s Health, waking up with an erection is one of the best signs that your downstairs plumbing and equipment is healthy and working properly. Now, we’re learning more about morning wood (officially nocturnal penile tumescence) than ever!
Men’s Health reports that Seth Cohen, M.D., says that men experience an erection around every 90 minutes during their sleep cycle. So, the chances of you waking up with one is actually pretty high. We’re learning that this can tell you a lot about your health–behind just sexual health. Cohen tells Men’s Health, “It means that your heart is healthy, your blood pressure is in check, and your hormones are balanced.”
A study from 2022 found that men who get morning wood are 22% less likely to die from heart disease or stroke. They are a sign of good blood circulation. So, that makes sense. Men’s Health goes on to explain that erections are caused by the stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system. You could see, hear, smell, or feel something that is sexually attractive to you and it triggers the release of these hormones. Cohen tells Men’s Health, “It is believed that nitric oxide can make the blood vessels in the penis relax. This can cause blood to enter the penis, causing an erection.”
Men And The Mystery Of Morning Wood
Men’s Health says that morning wood doesn’t necessarily have a specific function but it is an indicator that your penis is functioning properly. They say it can be like a little exercise regiment for your member. It’s important to keep it in shape and healthy!
