Saturday Night Live -- in the year 2024 -- aired a sketch around the iconic MTV animated characters Beavis and Butt-Head. The premise was weird, but the results were surprisingly very funny.

To set the scene, the sketch starred Heidi Gardner as Bobbi Moore, the host of a NewsNation town hall special about artificial intelligence. Gardner was joined by Kenan Thompson, who played MIT professor Norman Hemming.

Unfortunately, Professor Hemming had a hard time focusing on the topic at hand. Sitting behind Moore was an audience member who bore a striking resemblance to Beavis, who was played by host Ryan Gosling. The absurdity of someone being in a town hall audience who looked like Beavis clearly made the studio audience laugh, and it didn't help when Gardner broke into laughter upon seeing Gosling as Beavis.

The ridiculousness continued when Beavis was asked to change seats only to be replaced by a man who bore a striking resemblance to Butt-Head, who was played by Mikey Day. His look was even completed by a curled upper lip and visible braces and gums.

Thompson's character was beside himself by the new audience member who looked like Butt-Head. Gardner broke again upon turning around to see Day dressed like Butt-Head, which made the studio audience laugh and applaud. She then had a really hard time keeping it together, and it's understandable why.

Things got even more outrageous when Gardner's character read a viewer question from X (formerly Twitter) which asked, "Does Cornholio need TP for his bunghole?"

Thompson's character is now very upset about the viewers now actively trolling the broadcast over the audience members, who are now seated together and are still stunned about being mistaken for the classic cartoon characters.

The whole sketch comes to a close with a surprising nod to King of the Hill that is delightfully unexpected.

Beavis and Butt-Head and King of the Hill creator Mike Judge hasn't commented on the sketch, which honors two of his most popular projects, but you have to imagine he'd be a little touched. It would be difficult not to be just a little bit. These characters have been around for decades, but they are still providing laughs and were deemed relevant enough to be included in an SNL sketch.

Fortunately for Beavis and Butt-Head fans, the dynamic duo was rebooted via Paramount+ and are as funny as ever. Below is a supercut of the best moments from the second season of the rebooted series. In a time when reboots are often disappointing, Judge came through and defied the odds.

March 8, 1993, quite frankly, the world changed. It is on that day that Mike Judge creations Beavis And Butt-Head graced the airwaves of MTV and soon thereafter became a pop culture phenomenon. (Fun fact: Their popularity led to them appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone three times.)

While we could provide a sprawling list of great moments, for the sake of you, the reader, here are five of our favorite hilarious Beavis And Butt-Head moments.

When They Bullied Stewart Into Finding Them Some Internet Porn

Poor Stewart…he was just too weak to stand up to the pressures from Beavis and Butt-Head to find free porn on their high school’s library computer.

That Time They Were On Late Show With David Letterman

Yes…even Beavis and Butt-Head have to do press for their own film.  They even brought and set up a clip from Beavis and Butt-Head Do America!

That Airplane Scene From Beavis and Butt-Head Do America

The old lady who can’t wait to play the “slots,” Butt-Head falling in love with a flight attendant, and an appearance from The Great Cornholio makes this excerpt pretty perfect.

That Time They Presented An Oscar

For real…this happened, and we’re sure Bruce Stambler was thrilled that his hard work in Sound Effects Editing was being presented by the likes of Beavis and Butt-Head. Nonetheless, it’s still pretty funny.

That Time They Hosted A Thanksgiving Special With Kurt Loder

Kurt Loder, a legitimately serious journalist for MTV News, wasn’t even immune to getting involved with the music network’s biggest stars.   Clearly, he was a pretty good sport about it…even though he never scored.
