Larry David seems to have beef with everyone. On Curb Your Enthusiasm, we’ve seen him have issues with several celebrities. There was Michael J. Fox and there was Ben Stiller and many others. Now, he’s got an issue with a different kind of celebrity. That’s right. Larry David attacked Elmo on The “Today Show.”
Hey, someone had to do it. Larry David is one of a kind and that’s why we love him. He says the things we think, and he does the things we all wish we could do. Like, beat up Elmo.
Larry David Attacked Elmo On The “Today Show”
Well, it’s safe to say it’s been a bit of a rough week for Elmo. First, he had a post go viral on X (formerly Twitter) where he was just trying to ask how everybody was doing. However, the internet wasn’t having it. They unleased their real thoughts onto poor unexpecting Elmo. Then, he got beat up by Larry David on national TV. Not a great week!
The pair of celebrities appeared (separately) on The Today Show on Thursday. During Elmo’s segment, Larry surprised the audience by walking onto the set and grabbing the famous Muppet by the face and pretended to kick his butt. He then cried out, “Somebody had to do it!” in defense. He’s right.
Although, it is sad to see poor little Elmo’s reaction. Turns out, he’s a fan of Larry David. Or, at least he was. After the attack, Elmo said something like, “Mr. Larry, Elmo liked you before.” Ouch. That always hurts to hear. It’s like “I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed.”
It definitely took hosts Craig Melvin, Savannah Guthrie, and Hoda Kotb by surprise. Larry went on to apologize to Elmo. Although, it took Elmo’s “Father” Louie threatening to sue him.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
