Letters to Cleo Announce ‘Aurora Gory Alice’ Anniversary Shows
This years shows will be a bit different, however, LtC is celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut studio album Aurora Gory Alice. Old Boston heads like me had the O.G. version on tape or CD, released on Boston independent label CherryDisc on February 12, 1993. The album caught on so well in Boston and beyond that it was re-released in 1994 on Warner Brothers Records affiliate Giant Records.
Wild to think that this was all 30 years ago. I was a sophomore in high school when the album first dropped, and a regular FNX listener. They played three singles from the album on the regular: “I See,” “Mellie’s Comin’ Over” and “Here & Now,” which would become the band’s breakout hit. I remember seeing the music video for that one on Rage TV. Remember Rage TV? You do if you’re old like me!
Letters to Cleo will be joined by the Gigolo Aunts, another Boston rock band that came to prominence in the ’90s. Technically, they formed in NY in the early ’80s, but it was when the relocated to Boston that things really started to happen. Because the Boston rock scene back in the ’90s was magical. I’m looking forward to recapturing some of that magic at the Paradise this November.
