Harpoon Pickleball? Is that the Boston brewery's latest beer offering? Nope. It's the news of pickleball coming to Harpoon Brewery.

Folks, you heard it here first: Harpoon Brewery now has pickleball courts. The beloved Boston beer maker has partnered up with Hub Sports Boston. The new venture from the pair has been dubbed Pickleball Social Club: "a new space with pickleball courts, shuffleboard and more." And it's open now--daily, from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.--at the Harpoon Brewery in Boston.

The press release continues: "The space fits 400 people and has four pickleball courts, two shuffleboard courts, and numerous cornhole boards. There will be food from Harpoon Kitchen and custom menu items like a Pickle Pop from WildPops." If you're a seasoned pickleball pro, you can even join a league. Or, if you're a pickleball noob just looking to get a taste, you can reserve a court.

Harpoon Brewery was recently one of the 64 Massachusetts breweries featured in our Boston Brewery Battle. While they didn't win it all, you don't need me to tell you good their brews are: you've known for years. So won't it be nice to toss back a Rec League or two after you get in a game or two. Because, as you've probably heard, Massachusetts is the most pickleball-obsessed state in the U.S.

And again, you don't have to be a pickleball veteran to get in on the action. Hub Sports Boston would be more than happy to have you join a league if you are! But if you're just looking to try pickleball out in a fun, welcoming environment with great beer and food nearby, Pickleball Social Club is your best bet. To find out more and to get details on how to join in, visit the Club here.

Pickleball in Massachusetts: The State is Obsessed With the Sport

Pickleball in Massachusetts is bigger than it is in any other state, if a new report is to be believed. And Boston is helping lead the pack.

The pickleball phenomenon certainly isn't anything new. This time last year, Dave & Chuck the Freak reported on the fact that nude pickleball was rising in popularity. The story got such a reaction out of everyone on the show that it made Peep Show status. And the nice sport also has a celebrity following, so much so that there's even pickleball coming to Fenway Park later this summer.

It seems everyone these days has something to say about the intramural sport. The gang at Solitaire Bliss certainly does. To sort out which states and cities are the most obsessed with this pickleball, they gathered up search volume data for a dozen top pickleball-related keywords. And here's what they ended up with: a report titled The States Most Obsessed with Pickleball.

Let's take a look at a few of the key findings, as seen through the Bay State filter:

In other words, you're not hallucinating. If it seems like there's now a pickleball court in every park you pass, it probably is. Or if you think you're seeing more people humping pickleball gear, all decked out and ready to paddle, you probably are. If you're interested in seeing what other cities are being taken over by the pickleball movement, check out the full study here. If you'd like to see the rest of the states that make up the pickleball Top 10, put down your paddle and keep scrolling.
