Talking Metallica Month of Giving with AWMH’s Renee Richardson
The Metallica month of giving is underway with the band’s All Within My Hands Foundation. So what’s up for 2023?
I got the info straight from the source. Renee Richardson is the Director of Philanthropy for All Within My Hands. She joined Metallica’s charitable arm in 2019 after a 20-year radio career at the Bay Area radio station KFOG. I know ROCK 92.9 is a Boston station, but I’m a 25-year radio vet and know the industry pretty well. KFOG was a legendary station and a beloved part of the Bay Area community, and Renee was the genuine article on-air, just as she is now with AWMH.
Renee and I chatted about last year’s Metallica set at Boston Calling Music Festival. Not only did she fly out to Boston for the gig, but it was her first big event post-COVID! We talked about her transition from radio into the world of philanthropy via the Blue Bear School of Music. And of course, we talked about All Within My Hands and their 2023 Month of Giving initiative. Shout out to my guy Don from Masster of Puppets, the Official Metclub Chapter of Massachusetts for making the introduction.

You can listen to my full conversation with Renee below. And you can visit the Month of Giving page of the All Within My Hands site to learn more about the 2023 beneficiary, The Farmlink Project. As they do every year, Metallica and their crew are pulling out all the stops to raise funds. You can donate directly, pick up some special merch, or take advantage of this year’s auctions and sweepstakes to raise funds for Farmlink, who do great work connecting farms to food banks. Get started here, and thanks in advance for your generosity. Metallica fans truly do rock.
