Patriots’ Day 2023: Mark Your Calendar for These Great Events
Patriots’ Day 2023 events are on the schedule for the month of April. We’ve rounded up a bunch that are good for all ages.
As always, Minute Man National Park will play host to the standout events of the annual holiday. Events will start on the second weekend of April and carry through April 19, two days after this year’s observation of Patriots’ Day. Good timing, as April Vacation starts this year on Saturday, April 15 (or Friday, April 14, if you have a kiddo who has a half day that day). So these events could come in handy in filling up some of those April Vacation days if you’re looking for local activities.

Scroll through a selection of events below. All of these are free and open to the public, but some require registration. Visit Minute Man National Park’s Patriots’ Day page for a full list of events and details.
Paul Revere Capture Ceremony
Saturday April 8, 3:00-4:00 pm
The Lincoln Minute Men, alongside other reenactment units, will mark the capture of Paul Revere with historic fife and drum music and a musket fire salute.
Battle Road
Saturday, April 15, 9:30 am -3:30 pm
Organizers call this “the signature living history event at Minute Man National Historical Park. It features hundreds of volunteer reenactors and marks the events of April 19, 1775 through a full schedule of programs and demonstrations. If you grew up in the Boston area, you probably experienced this as a field trip when you were in grade school.
North Bridge Fight Commemoration
Monday, April 17, 8:30 am
Mark Patriots’ Day this year with another exciting tactical demonstration involving Minute Men, British regulars, and musket fire, marking the “shot heard round the world.”
Battle Road Anniversary Hike (Registration Required)
Wednesday, April 19, 12:00 – 5:00 pm
Join National Park Rangers for a 5-mile guided hike along the Battle Road trail. I’ve done portions of this hike multiple times over the years. Highly recommended for Patriots’ Day 2023.
