Jay Leno has had it rough lately but has bounced back spectacularly. The Tonight Show alum reflected on the two accidents he had in just a two-month time span in an interview with Dana Carvey and David Spade yesterday (March 29).

The two comedians were complimenting Leno on how great he looked, going as far as not noticing anything different. "This [is] an all-new face. I did it in eight days," he told Dana and David. He noted, "I missed two shows." His most recent accident was in January when Leno got knocked off his motorcycle. "I got a broken collarbone, I got two busted ribs, and I got two cracked kneecaps," he recalled, "'Cause I got clotheslined on my motorcycle."

New Face, New Leno

Leno then detailed what went wrong on his motorcyle. "You're a 72-year-old guy and an 83-year-old motorcycle. What could go wrong?" he joked. When he noticed the motorcycle was dripping gas and didn't want to catch fire again, he thought it was best to turn around in a parking lot. "The guy had a wire across a parking lot but with no flag. And the sun was right here. And boom it just hit me."

After cutting his face again, Leno said he then had to call his "face guy," the doctor who helped him after his first accident. "This is a brand new ear," he told Carvey and Spade. "When you get burned in a fire, ears are like paper. They're so thin it just goes up."

Back in November, the former late-night star suffered third-degree burns in a gasoline fire while working on his 1907 White Steam Car. Thankfully, his friend Dave Killackey helped smother the flames and called 911. The next day, Leno went to the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles, where he was treated for burns on his face, chest and hands.

After retiring from his late-night TV hosting in 2014, Leno’s passion for collecting cars led him to a series called Jay Leno’s Garage, which showcases his journey throughout America in search of unique rides and their history. The automotive historian often tests supercars, checks out the latest innovations, and even offers consumer advice. He also talks with fellow gearheads, including celebrities like Post Malone, to learn about their collections.
