Simon Le Bon has issued a short statement on Duran Duran’s nomination for the 2022 class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Le Bon said via the band’s Twitter, “Just to make it onto the nominations list is an honor that I never expected to experience… But for sure, this distinction is due in large part to the fact that we have an army of fans around the world who have unwaveringly supported us for the past four decades. We are all extremely grateful to all of you for making this happen.”

Duran Duran has been eligible for induction into the Rock Hall since 2006, but this is the band’s first nomination for induction.

The nominations for the 2022 class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced earlier today (February 2.) In addition to Duran Duran, other artists nominated include Beck, Pat Benatar, Kate Bush, DEVO, Eminem, Eurythmics, Judas Priest, Fela Kuti, MC5, New York Dolls, Dolly Parton, Rage Against The Machine, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, A Tribe Called Quest and Dionne Warwick.

The 2022 inductees will be announced in May. Details pertaining to the induction ceremony have not been confirmed, but the 2022 induction is heavily rumored to be taking place in Los Angeles.

As with previous years, the public will have the opportunity to voice their choice via the Fan Vote at RockHall.com starting today (February 2) through April 30. Fans are allowed to vote once per day during the Fan Vote period. Visitors of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland will also have the opportunity to vote in person. The “Fans’ Ballot” will be comprised of the top five artists from the fan vote and will be counted among the other ballots filled out by various artists, historians, and music industry professionals.
