Wolfgang Van Halen’s debut solo album — which was released in June under the name Mammoth WVH — has received significant praise from Sammy Hagar.

The Red Rocker appeared on Lipps Service with Scott Lipps and talked about communicating with the late Eddie Van Halen saying, “And we had a really great text relationship at least weekly, and he would talk about Wolfie a lot, saying ‘Wait till you hear [his solo album].’ He’d send me stuff, and I’d say, ‘Wow. The motherf—er can play.'”

Hagar added, “The fact that he plays all those instruments, it sounds like a band. When Paul McCartney plays a solo record and plays all the instruments, it sounds like Paul. But this guy, it sounds like a band. I mean, hey, look what he grew up with. He was in that studio hanging out with us. He was on tour with us. He was around.”

Wolfgang is currently on tour playing both solo shows and opening for Guns N’ Roses. His next performance is opening for GN’R tomorrow night (September 23) in Columbus, Ohio. A full tour itinerary can be found at MammothWVH.com.
