Sharon Osbourne’s ‘The Talk’ Exit Rakes In Lots Of Money
Sharon Osbourne got a payday of up to $10 million from CBS as she exited The Talk last week amid allegations of racist behavior.
Page Six reports that their source stated, “Sharon is walking away with a $5 to $10 million minimum payout and was able to spin that it was her decision [to leave the show].” Another source told Page Six that Osbourne is free to speak out whatever she pleases and will talk when she is ready. The source claims “she still wants to give her side of the story. She has been on that show for eleven years and knows all the secrets.”
CBS confirmed Osbourne’s departure late Friday afternoon with a statement that said they concluded that Sharon’s behavior toward her co-hosts during the March 10 episode “did not align with our values for a respectful workplace.”
While defending her friend Piers Morgan, Osbourne’s The Talk co-host Sheryl Underwood pointed out to Osbourne that “You’re standing by your friend. It appears that you give safe haven to something that he has uttered that is racist.” A flustered Osbourne responded by saying she felt like she was about to be put “in an electric chair.” Osbourne then freaked out on The Talk, telling Underwood, “Don’t try and cry, cause if anybody should be crying, it should be me!”
The departure came two weeks after their on-air argument, and followed Morgan’s departure off his own show in Britain for too strongly attacking Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
