No, this wasn't a Nirvana situation; if it was, we'd've known about it for years. This was for a reunion of Dave Grohl's first band, Scream.

Remember, Grohl played drums for the legendary D.C. hardcore act from 1986 through 1990, before joining Nirvana. In 1994, Scream played a short reunion set at the Dragonfly Club in Hollywood. The clip below is a short one, but it features Grohl pounding away behind an amped-up Zach de la Rocha, who is splitting vocal duties with Scream's Peter Stahl.
