The American Hotel and Lodging Association is bracing for a holiday travel slump.
A recent survey indicates 72% of Americans are unlikely to travel for Thanksgiving and 69% are unlikely to travel for Christmas.
“This holiday season will be an especially difficult time for all Americans, and our industry is no exception,” AHLA president and CEO Chip Rogers said in a statement.
He used the survey results to appeal to lawmakers for a new stimulus package and said it was important for Congress to get to work on a bill “now.”
The poll was done in early November.
It also showed that only 3 in 10 travelers have taken a vacation or trip since March and 44% plan to take one in the next year or so.
