We hate to burst your bubble this winter, but dining outside in an igloo during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic might not be as safe as you think.

According to boston.com, professor Wafaa El-Sadr of epidemiology and medicine at Columbia University said:

"While the bubbles are physically out in the open air, enclosing people inside may be akin to creating indoor dining outdoors. The igloo structures and tents seem to be quite tight and therefore, there’s not much cross-ventilation that’s happening.”

It is easier for air to become trapped longer in these bubbles than it would be if you were at an open table.

However, these dining bubbles could be an effective way to limit the exposure a group has to the other groups around them. It is important for them to be sanitized on a regular basis and for individuals to be following the proper protocols.
