Lions & Tigers & Bears…in Mass?
You heard that right! Wildlife bears have been popping up daily in neighborhoods throughout Massachusetts.
As they begin to prepare for winter and hibernation, they are drawn to the abundance of food that humans contain in their homes. Dave Wattles, a black bear and furbearer biologist for Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife told Boston.com,
“They’ll take advantage of any easy meal,” Wattles said. “They also can get into trouble by looking for other foods. Increasingly we’re having issues with bears breaking into chicken coops and bee hives in people’s backyards.”
Make sure your trash bins are secured and your doors are locked or a furry friend might show up to your house!
