Check out some of the awesome ice cream flavors and toppings these stores have to offer:
1st place: Flannel Cow Creamery in Mansfield
Flannel Cow Creamery is a family-owned and operated ice cream shop that strives to provide our customers with fresh homemade super premium ice cream that is udderly amazing, as well as excellent customer service. We make fresh waffle cones and bowls daily as well as hand pack every pint to ensure freshness. In addition to our homemade ice cream, we offer rich soft serve ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, amazing sundaes, ices and dairy free options.
2nd place: Melt Ice Cream in Salem
People come for our salted caramel with gluten free sea salt brownies! We make our own homemade salted caramel and we have been using gluten free brownie bites from a local bakery right here in Salem called Jodi Bee Bakes! This is one of our regular everyday flavors.
Banana Nutella with Peanut butter cups pieces is also a fan favorite. This one is exactly how it sounds! Fun fact: the gentleman from Salem Cycle (local bike shop a few doors down) came up with this flavor, so we tried it and it because so popular it’s permanently on our menu!
Another flavor that got rave reviews is our E.W. Hobb’s Buttered Popcorn flavor. It was a new, rotating flavor made by a local shop down at the Salem Willows. This shop has tons of history here in Salem and everyone knows how amazing their buttered popcorn is. It’s made on an antique popcorn popper machine. They also sell popcorn bars and ice cream. Melt had so much fun incorporating a local treat into ice cream! As you can see, we love supporting and bringing positive attention to our local shops! If I can use local ingredients, I do!
Melt also make waffle cones and homemade whipped cream!
3rd place: Richardson’s Farm in Middleton
Today, our flagship ice cream stand in Middleton, Massachusetts remains on our dairy farm. The ice cream stand now has an all season dining room, complete with outdoor tables and fountains. Customers both appreciate and enjoy our immaculate grounds and a chance to visit with the cows that make it all possible.
We’re a dairy farming family that has been serving finest homemade dairy products for generations. We take our history seriously and endeavor to honor it by maintaining the highest standards for our products. Customers who discovered us as children relive the nostalgia of their youth and continue the tradition today by bringing their children and grandchildren.
4th place: Crescent Ridge in Sharon
Our delicious “Cherry Ridge Ripple” flavor is made with real big cherries and chocolate chunks. The newest addition to our topping’s menu are “cookie dough bites” which are dairy free, egg free edible cookie dough bits. Yummy!
