A company in Japan is finding success with its new drive-thru haunted house.

A drive-thru haunted house keeps visitors confined to their car and unable to escape from the terror all while being kept safe from COVID-19. It will combine horror elements and actors outside the vehicle while a spooky accompanying soundtrack plays inside the car. The company had to come up with a way to stay in business and survive the pandemic after 80% of their traditional haunted house business had been cancelled.

Inside a car, guests can scream as loudly as they like, with no mask required, as hideous creatures daubed in blood swarm towards them. In fact, the new format might even be scarier than a traditional haunted house, producer Kenta Iwana, 25, told AFP.
