The Patriots' uniform change wasn't expected to be major. And not only is it absolutely a minor change, but it's a change to a uniform they've already worn.
New England has gone "color rush" full-time with their new uniforms, which they unveiled on Monday morning. The blue pants and striped shoulders are now the Pats' permanent home jerseys. The stripes harken back to uniforms from the early days of the Patriots franchise. The familiar nautical blue of the 21st century remains and actually gets amplified.
According to the team, the only changes from color rush to the new home uniforms are in tweaks to the numbers and lettering. The away jerseys, however, aren an entirely new, white counterpart to the home blues. Both uniforms will wear blue pants.
Well, the internet's probably angry about these uniforms at the moment. Opinions on the new look will no doubt vary. But the new uniforms certainly delivered on the promise of a subtle change that makes a nod to past eras.
