DUBLIN, IRELAND – MARCH 17: A woman displays her shamrock tights as she attends the Saint Patrick’s Day parade on March 17, 2019 in Dublin, Ireland. Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland is celebrated around the world on St. Patrick’s Day. According to legend Saint Patrick used the three-leaved shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to Irish pagans in the 5th-century after becoming a Christian missionary. For the last decade, I've deejayed St. Patrick's Day at The Black Rose in Boston. This year, I'm deejaying just for you for St. Patrick's Day.
Just because we can't hit the bars doesn't mean we can't still celebrate St. Patrick's Day together--at a safe distance. So pour yourself a pint or a dram, then take a scroll through some of my favorite St. Paddy's Day fare. Be warned: it's heavy on the Irish punk.
Dropkick Murphys "The Dirty Glass" - Gotta lead off with the live version.
The Pogues "Whiskey In The Jar" - I like this version, as it features The Dubliners
Darkbuster "Irish" - "There's a road...to Ireland...it's paved with beer and gold, my friends..."
Street Dogs "Tobe's Got a Drinking Problem" - He doesn't anymore, by the way. Good for Tobe.
Dropkick Murphys "The Wild Rover" - It's been a few songs since I played some Dropkicks. Let's fix that now.
Stiff Little Fingers "Roots, Radicals, Rockers and Reggae" - I told you I was going heavy on the Irish punk.
Flogging Molly "(No More) Paddy's Lament" - I hope you're digging these live cuts as much as I am.
Thin Lizzy "Jailbreak" - Again, gotta hit the live version.
Dropkick Murphys "Fields of Athenry" - One more from DKM before we wind down. This is one of my favorites of theirs.
U2 "40" - I know what you're thinking: "How the HELL does Adam 12 make a St. Paddy's Day playlist without U2?!" I don't, silly! I just saved the best for last. I always wrapped up my yearly set with the live version of "40," and that's exactly what I'm doing here. Happy St. Patrick's Day, wherever and however you're celebrating.
