For the first time in its 123 year history, the Boston Marathon won't be run on the third Monday of April.

WBZ-TV in Boston reported Thursday afternoon that Boston, the other seven towns involved, and organizers of the Marathon are planning to move the Marathon to the fall amid concerns about the Coronavirus pandemic.

September is being considered, although WBZ is reporting "a great deal of logistics in those communities that still need to be worked out." An announcement is expected from Boston mayor Marty Walsh "within the next 48 hours" with more details.

The Marathon brings in over $200 million to local businesses, which is likely a driving force behind the decision to delay the event instead of canceling it. Other marathons internationally had been canceled in recent days.

This is a developing story, more information will be added as it comes in...
