The Old Mutual insurance Company in South Africa was refusing to pay a claim to the family of a man who had died…the problem? The company didn’t believe he was dead
They needed confirmation. So that’s when Thandaza Mtshali and Thobeka Mhlongo marched into the offices with a body bag that held the corpse of their dead uncle. A rep says the incident was “unsettling,” but they did their best to be “sympathetic towards the family during this difficult time.”

Insurance companies are notorious for finding any way not to pay out on a policy, so when two women who tried to collect a relative's life insurance had trouble getting their claim settled they came up with a hardcore solution. Old Mutual, one of South Africa's most respected insurance companies, insisted on confirmation the man in question had actually died.
